Frequently asked questions

What is the AES50 Trade Association?

The AES50 Trade Association is being established to encourage the adoption of AES50 on an open standards basis. Initial members include Klark Teknik, Midas, our development partners AuviTran (France) and ZP Engineering (Italy), and Lynx Studio Technology, Inc (USA).

Membership of the AES50 Trade Association is open to all interested parties, regardless of whether they use Klark Teknik’s proprietary SuperMAC implementation, or other AES50 implementations. Members who are manufacturers will be invited to have their AES50-compliant products featured on the AES50 Trade Association website. The web site itself is initially being set up and maintained by Klark Teknik, but we intend to hand over its operation to the AES50 Trade Association once it is viable to do so.

The AES50 Trade Association will act as an open forum to represent its members’ interests and to provide a focus to propose amendments and updates to the AES50 standard for consideration by the Audio Engineering Society Standards Committee.

The AES50 Trade Association does not include HyperMAC as it is currently technology proprietary to Klark Teknik, although our intention is to submit HyperMAC for consideration by the Audio Engineering Society as an open standard. Subject to the approval of the members of the AES50 Trade Association, we would have the option either to rename the trade association to incorporate both standards or to create a separate trade association for an AES-ratified HyperMAC standard.

The AES50 Trade Association web site address is www.aes50ta.org and includes information on how to join.
