What is recommended practice for the use of SuperMAC and HyperMAC?
Klark Teknik and Midas have adopted 96 kHz, 24-bit PCM operation for both SuperMAC and HyperMAC. Midas’ XL8 and Pro6 digital consoles and Klark Teknik’s DN9696 recorder all support this format. SuperMAC and HyperMAC offer 24 and 192 bidirectional channels respectively in this format. The adoption of 96 kHz operation was primarily driven by the requirement to minimise the latencies incurred in analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue conversion.
